Scope & Content: The series consists of 35 photographs depicting First Nations people in Metlakatla and Ketchikan, Alaska and Port Simpson. People identified in the photographs include Charles Ryan, Henry Bailey and Moses Scott of Port Simpson. There is a funeral scene with several people sitting and standing near a coffin, Mrs. Moses Scott inscribed on the back, another photograph shows Christmas time in the home of Mr. & Mrs. Alex Bryant of Metlakatla, Alaska, Patrick Bryant chopping wood, two infants identified as Della and Woody, the inside of a new church and its basement taken by Ketchikan photographer Paulu T. Saari with the name P. Fawcett written on the back. There is a New Years Day Parade of Ex-Service Men in 1947 in Alaska. Portraits in the series were taken by Peerless Studio in Prince Rupert, Benson Studios, and K. Iwai of Port Essington. Some of the frames are handpainted and the name R.B. Scheifner is inscribed on one, Moses Scott is identified in one of the large family portraits. There is also an oil colour portrait of a young soldier in uniform.
